Makoto Shibata is the leader of FINOLAB, which was ranked among the top 10 innovation labs in APAC in 2020. FINOLAB operates as a prominent FinTech community in Tokyo's Otemachi financial district, bringing together 50 startup members and 16 corporate members to drive innovation in financial technology. Prior to his current role, Shibata-san held leadership positions at MUFG, where he spearheaded emerging technology initiatives, FinTech development, and digital banking transformation. His unique background spans both the traditional corporate banking world and the startup ecosystem, while maintaining perspectives on both global and domestic Japanese markets. This dual expertise positions him as a key figure in Tokyo's evolving financial technology landscape.
